America the Beautiful

"If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under." - Ronald Reagan

Today all eyes are trained on The United States. Inauguration day is upon us and change is prevalent on all fronts. America is a beautiful country of opportunity, certainly not perfect, but nothing ever is. However, I do believe that we are extremely blessed to have all of the opportunities, freedoms, and rights that we do.

I finally got around to visiting Washington, D.C. this January with some of my favorite people. We got snow on our day of arrival and that only added a magical effect to the entire experience and adventuring. It was a bit overwhelming, with so much to see, so much to do, and itineraries that just couldn't be stuck to! We got to tour the capitol building and that was really neat. I definitely plan on going back for another visit in the warmer months! Here's just a few pictures for you to enjoy!

Happy Inauguration Day, America!

New York : 9/11 Memorial & World Trade Center Mall (Part 6)

My blog may be turning into a collage of pictures...and that's okay, because otherwise I will never finish posting and will simply forget all about it. I went to New York, and I was able to visit the site that impacted all of America. It was magnificent, sobering, and made me remember that day through the eyes of my 8 year old self in third grade.

New York: Empire State Building (Part 7)

The view from up here....stunning. I could never see myself living among all of the hustle and bustle day to day, but it sure is exhilarating. Oh and the pizza! (all of the heart eyes please) Also you may not know this, but the wind chill a million feet up in the air = -798 degrees.

A Snowy First Date at the Biltmore

January is the perfect time for a walk in the snow, hot apple cider, and exploring. What can possibly better combine all of the above? Spending time exploring the Biltmore Estate of course! I'm just waiting on my chance to move in and cozy up in that library by the fireplace. With my sweeping gowns of course, a terrace tea party, and brunch in the sun room. The winding staircase will make you wish the place were empty so you could slide down the railing without anyone watching, or just make a really grand entrance to some important dinner party. Because that's what they did back in the day, right?

Don't get me started on that library. Seriously my favorite room in the house probably. Remember Belle's library in beauty and the beast? This one's probably the closest I've seen to it. Winding mini staircase, secret doorway, two stories of bookshelves, humongous volumes, desks, fireplace, maps, and all things dreamy. *insert happy sigh*

We had a tasty feast at the Stable Cafe, (which was probably too much for both of us), and apple cider to top it off. The green house was lovely as ever, and we will definitely need to come back during the summertime to see these gardens in full bloom. The trails were also blocked off because of the snow, but that didn't seem to stop us avid hikers.

Overall, the perfect day, with this super cute boyfriend.

New York : Chinatown, Little Italy, & SoHo (Part 3)

A perfect day with perfect food! We wandered, meandered, and traipsed about. We had wonderful weather, until it got to be unbearable at night. We walked a million miles....after I starved everyone ALL DAY. They obviously can't handle me. Can we say hangry? They got over it as soon as I fed them. We also rode the Subway a trillion times and felt pretty street savy. #favorites
