Spontaneity (and all it entails)

spon·ta·ne·i·ty
ˌspän(t)əˈnēədē,ˌspän(t)əˈnāədē/
noun
noun: spontaneity
  1. the condition of being spontaneous; spontaneous behavior or action.
"she occasionally tore up her usual schedule in favor of spontaneity"

Recently I have surprised myself and thrown all cares to the wind. Okay, I'm kidding, all cares meaning laundry and a few unfinished homework assignments. It may be spring fever or just a case of the i'm-sick-of-being-cooped-up-inside-itis. Whatever it is, I've got it. Some of this years new years resolutions are on their way of being completed and that's scary and exhilarating all at once. But it keeps my day to day interestingly new.

Being spontaneous is not always necessarily a good thing. When I hear that word it brings to mind a frazzled haired girl with a crazed look in her eyes and an attention disorder ready to pounce on anything that moves...NOT what I want to be! So I guess what I'm saying is, spontaneity in moderation is okay. I recently booked a flight and decided I needed a weekend getaway. The great thing is just how everything worked out on it's own without any fanfare. The school semester ends right before and vacation time was available. It was simply a matter of saying "I want to go" and booking my flight. Oh the perks of being an almost completely grown adult *contented sigh*.

Stepping out of your comfort zone is a great way to really shake things up and be spontaneous. Sometimes I sign myself up for things and then wonder why I ever did it! I'm sure that never happens to anyone else, but in case it does, I want to encourage you to just stick with it! Do it with everything you've got, and if it is a total flop, at least you tried and did your best. That's more than some people do. You never really know what great things can come out of it! Someone else may see you breaking new grounds and be encouraged to follow your lead, take hold of your passion, and help you see it through to great outcomes. If it comes from the heart there is a reason it is there.

Sunday, I had told my friend Gabby that I was definitely not going to the beach the next day because I had so much to do and there was no way it could be left for later............the weather at the beach was perfect, the gelato was delicious, and my tan lines are still noticeable. So grab a beach towel and vamonos a la playa amigos!
