In a world that is so concerned with Me, Myself, and I, it is easy to get carried away with the small things in life that clutter our vision.
If we aren’t careful, we dehumanize one another and forget that we are interacting with humans and not perfect saints on the daily. Other humans that have shortcomings, insecurities, and storms of their own. How easy it is to categorize each other and simply tuck them away in a box as we move on with our days.
We must realize that we are not each other’s adversary, but that is what the devil wants us to believe. He wants to cause strife and disharmony where harmony and peace should reside abundantly. We are here for a purpose, but how can we ever reach the world if we do not work together with those we call our church family?
CAN TWO WALK TOGETHER, EXCEPT THEY BE AGREED?
{AMOS 3:3}
In the fall time we see the migration of geese headed South in a perfect V formation. Something you might not know about their flying patterns is that as each bird flaps its wings, it creates uplift for the bird immediately following behind it. By flying in a V pattern the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range than if each goose flew alone. The geese share a common direction and get to where they are going quicker and easier, because they are traveling on the trust of one another and lift each other up along the way.
HOW SIMILAR IS THAT TO THE BODY OF CHRIST?
When we work together we create a larger, wider effect in our churches and communities. We share a common direction, goal, and purpose that is greater than the individual.
Whenever a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go through it alone and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the power of the flock. If we have as much sense as a goose, we will stay in formation and share our efforts and purpose with those who are headed the same way that we are going.
The geese honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep their speed.
How encouraging are words of support and inspiration to us? It helps revitalize those who are working hard and expecting great things. It is highly important that our honking be encouraging. Otherwise it’s just, well, honking!
If we have the sense of a goose, we will stand by each other when things get rough. We will stay in formation with those headed where we want to go. We will fly through storms together are make it to the other side.
So lift up one another and be that encouraging little goose for those around you!
xoxo,
